[Build Log] Switch 810

Vinyl Scratch Build – Log

Warning this Build – Log may contain ponys!

This Build- Log is more like a rebuild from my pc. The original plan was just a new case. The HaF 922 is a good case but it looks not the best and it was nearly impossible to perform a good cable managment because you cant hide cables.
Warning: cables!!! (Click to show)

But as you propably know the plan can easily change. The idea rise after speaking with Coder4ever i could make a Build with a pony color theme. This has to include painted components in the right case. The NZXT 810 seemed perfect for me. Its even possible to put a waterloop into it in 1-2 years. As you can see i use the colors from a pony called „Vinyl scratch“ from the TV show My little Pony: Friendship is magic. With a white body and a blue / cyan mane.
I decided to paint the fans and propably some components in this 3 colors and the witch 810 works as the white body. I cant avoid the contrast with black but i dont think it is a big issue and i won´t avoid my warranty from some important components.
After the decision about the fans i was thinking about my cables. The first thought was not without a reason to improve my cable managment.

But sleeving is expensive and costs time.
I just found out some days later Nils from MDPC lives in Germany. So shipping wouldn´t kill me. I decided to purchase sleeving to give my cables a blue / cyan / white look. Three colors. The red eyes will be covered by red LED fans in the front.
Well the cyan color is hard to get. The aquamarin didn´t turn out so well. But you will see it in the pictures. Paracord would be the better choice here, huh?

Its my first real mod and pc build without just putting the components in the Case. Im already done with the sleeving and painting. It took me a long time to do it. Case modding and exam at the same time isn´t really a good idea. I found also sleeving a little bit frustrating for the first time. It needs alot of practice and mistakes can easily happen.

I made also some improvments to the Build. I will use 2x WD reds in a raid 1 to keep my data save. The next new component is the 840 pro SSD. I will use my 830 for my Thinkpad X200. I figured out a 840 nonpro is a good and cheap choice but it wouldn´t be faster as my 830 and my desktop can profit from a faster ssd while my thinkpad gets the old one. 5 years warranty was also a reason. I really prefer products with long warranty. Then i know the company has belief in its products.
I own the HX750 for 2 years now but the fan got some issues so i did a rma. The bequit unit has some serious issues and i hope the HX can solve some OC issues with my 7950.

Pictures so far:

Tools, colors etc

the switch 810, pretty huh?

Xigmatek LED fans.

More fans! NZXT + Prolimatech 140 mm

grills disassambly but not the ones in the top

painting etc smile.gif

The result.

Now time to paint all this fans..

Disassamply from the prolimatech vortex. Its pretty easy. Just remove the paper and the halfway is done. I had also to remove the rubber and all washer. After this it was possible to remove the fan blades with a liittle pressure.

Cougar Vortex 140mm done

All fans painted and reoiled with silicon oil. I was just afraid they wouldn´t run without problems after the disassembly.
