Without the 24/1 hour check ins, they've got to redesign the whole system. Yes, it's still possible
to do what they wanted to do without the DRM. It's not possible to do it how
they were going to do it without the DRM. Efficiency > redundancy when you're building such systems, and when the parts that allowed you to be efficient are removed, it's now a huge project because you didn't build in redundancies. A car without wheels is also possible
, doesn't mean it's a quick transition.
You never lost them.
I was right the first time, and I was right this time.....
Microsoft's requirement of having the console check in has nothing to do with pulling the sharing feature. If you actually had read what I have said on the matter previously, then you would actually know this. Let me paraphrase what I said last time for you....
There is no reason Microsoft couldn't have made the entire Check-in DRM and Sharing system an OPTION on the XBO. Those of us with connections that can support this feature could activate it, giving us access to them. Those without proper connections would simply opt-out, and not have to worry about checking in, and would be able to stay 'offline' with the console.
Unfortunately for the more forward thinking consumer, there are people like you that make it a black and white subject. Either give yourselves over completely to Microsoft, and other Corporations, or don't have anything at all...staying a pleb. When the truth of the matter is, there are areas between the two points that are completely viable. You just refuse to see them.
Microsoft tried forcing a feature onto people, a feature over half their current installed user-base doesn't want, this being shown by over half of the 360's sold as aren't even online.. Microsoft is pulling the age old "Our way or the high-way", instead of actually doing what is right and common sense.
They had two MASSIVE reasons for having this check-in period and always on-line feature!
1) Sharing library checks - It is gone now because you can't check in....2) Cloud Computing
<---- Pay attention to that now!
If something as simple as sharing a library was so dependent on the unit being connected to the cloud, how are they now going to handle Cloud Computing? Are they now going to have to scrap all their games they are working on. and redesign them for the lack of CC?
There was just an article posted about Titanfall requiring CC, because of how demanding it will be. How about all the other games currently in the works?
You see....Microsoft wasn't very smart with this stunt of theirs. They can, some how, justify pulling Sharing, yet CC is completely untouched by their new design?
Please! How can people not see that?Edited by PostalTwinkie - 6/20/13 at 11:13am
