Asus P5GDC IDE Trouble.

Hey folks,

Long time no see, sorry about that! =]

I was just after some help, ive just built my second rig (specs in sig) and everything is working correctly apart from one thing; The optical drive.

I only have one optical drive (which has the jumpers set to master) which is connected to my mobo. My 2 other Hard Drive's are too IDE, and are connected to the boards blue IDE Socket. The optical drive is connected to te boards orange IDE socket.

When the computer starts, after the BIOS screen has come and gone, it displays an IDE connection test where you can clearly see my Sony CD Drive appear. When you get past this onto windows, and go into My Computer, the disk drive is not there.

I have been on computer management, and onto 'Disk Management' and its only the 2 Hard Drives that show up in there.

Im really stuck folks and all i wanna do is test out my rig!
Please help!

Andy,

What do you have the HD jumpers set to?

Also, try swapping the ports and see what happens.

Thanks a lot for writing back wowza, but i think im going to call it a day, i think I need a new Motherboard

But at the same time, im going to get a new Hard Drive and a Zalman CPU fan (because the intel stock cooler is really poor! I miss my Copper Aero4 of my 478 board!) so i guess the dreams of getting a 19" LCD monitor is out of the question for christmas, bring on the january sales!

cheers,
Andy
