Asus M5a99x evo R2.0 ram question

Thread Starter
I was just wondering if its possible to use the first two DIMM slots (A1 and A2) instead of running them in dual channel (A2 and B2). The reason I am asking is I have the big phanteks cooler and the fan on the front has to sit on top of one of the sticks of ram to be able to fit into my case. I have the kingston hyperx genesis (2x4gb) which is 30mm in height which is the lowest height possible. I have asked if its ok for the fan to sit on top and its ok but i just wanted to know if i had other options if I'm not comfortable with this.

Thanks

Absolutely fine other than the slight performance drop. The other option is to remove the relevant heatsink if it makes a difference to the height.

There are 4 ram slots in total so use the 2nd and 4th slot and you will be running in dual channel mode.
