See I'll never get people who think like this. "Its stupid to avoid death".
If it were possible to live forever why then would it be "stupid" to try not to die. Especially when survival is ingrained in our very dna, our instincts. Its the most powerful human instinct. That then makes trying to achieve immortality through science a natural goal for humanity. Which will then allow us to evolve exponentially faster.
Intellect, our mind and science is what makes us human, and achieving immortality allows to improve what makes us human faster and faster. Imagine our geniuses, einstein and the like if they continued their incredible advances. Learning more and more and building upon decades and centuries of knowledge. Rather than starting over again in the mind of another genius, sending him through college and another short life of learning. Maybe then we could achieve a level of immortality without the use of computers/androids.
Food for thought i guess
