AMD A6-6400K same igpu as 6800k?

I can't find anywhere about the lower end RIchland APU's from AMD, do they have the same iGPU as its big brother?

what would it be equal to on the dedicated gpu side???

Simple answer, no.

Complex answer no, the 6400k has about half the stream processors of it's "big brother" the 6800k and is 44mhz GPU clock lower.

^ That.
In addition to higher clock speeds and additional processors, the higher branded APUs also contain more 'GPU cores', as per the table Sentress linked to.

The performance difference scales pretty linearly, my 5400k scored around half on tests like 3dmark11 vs. the 6800k that replaced it.

Dedicated GPU wise a 6400k would give similar performance to something like a 5550 or GT430 (slightly faster than a 6450). In comparison, the one included in the 6800k is around the performance level of a 6670.

Yes they do, but their shader count is not as high and the core clock is a little lower. The A6-6400k packs 192 shaders, the "big brother" the A10-6800k packs 384 shaders. Which is twice as much horsepower than what the A6-6400k offers. The core clock of the iGPU is also 44 MHz slower than the A10-6800k. As to how well it performs, it's something that we can't just point out and say it performs X good. The A10-6800k for example is a little bit faster than a discrete HD 6670. Tho there is no cards for the range of the iGPU in the A6-6400k. So much better than a HD 6450, but not as good as a HD 6570.

What they share is the architecture, not the GPU... That would imply that they have identical graphics hardware, and as you pointed, they don't.

hmm alright guys, so the 6400 would be perfectly fine for a htpc then? looking to build something for cheap with decent graphics
post #7 of 8
For playback of videos etc the 6400k would have no problems. Even an E-350 box can run XBMC without issues.

The graphics are good enough to play most non-demanding games at medium or similar. I played Dirt3 a lot on my 5400k and even on high @ 720p it didn't have any stuttery issues or annoyingly-low framerate.

The GPU's are the same, they share the same architecture. The only difference is they have different specifications. A crab apple is still an apple.
