Reinstall OS on motherboard, cpu and cooler upgrade?

So I should get my Asus Maximus Extreme VI in tomorrow so I will replace my AMD cpu with my i7-4770k and cooling with h100i but wondering if I should do a complete format and reinstall my OS or not? I have 2 ssd's and 1 hard drive which I currently have Windows 7 Ultimate on one of the ssds and Windows 7 Home on the mechanical hard drive. Should I just raid the 2 ssds into 1 virtual drive and format the mechanical drive as storage so no dual boots or would it really make any difference? I never use the windows 7 home boot and only have it because it came on a stock hp computer and couldn't install that OS on my new ssd so I had to purchase a 2nd OS.

Yes you will have to do a complete format as you had a different M/B and CPU.. as far as the dual boot that will not work because the computer will not longer have the M/B and CPU that came with the PC.

Will I have to purchase a new OS or can I reinstall the Windows 7 ultimate? I'm not sure if the comp id is on the hard drive or other components.

this subject is brought up time and time again.

OEM= buy a new OS (legaly)
full retail = reinstall (you can have one single computer running that copy at a time, so long as duplicates are not running at the same time.)

Is the Windows 7 ultimate OEM or Retail version?? How much was it if you do not know what version it was. If it is retail you can with no problem and if it is OEM you might have to contact Microsoft and tell them it is going in same computer and you just changed parts because motherboard burned up or something like this.

Retail. Good I didn't want to purchase another os until Windows blue comes out. I've got 8 on my convertible and there TONS of bugs and a waste of money right now. Hopefully it'll be rectified with 8.1.

Just call Microsoft and see if they can transfer the license. Forget about if it's OEM or not.

If the windows key came with a HP computer, you aren't supposed to use it on anything but the PC it came with.

http://www.microsoft.com/OEM/en/licensing/sblicensing/Pages/transfer_oem_licenses.aspx#fbid=t7THcuoB4QE

The End User Software License Terms is granted to the end user by you, the system builder. It is related to the OEM System Builder License for the PC on which it was originally installed.

You are required to support the license on that original PC, but you cannot support a license that has been moved from a PC that you manufactured to one that you did not. This is one of the key reasons an OEM System Builder License can’t be transferred.

PC Transfer to Another End User
The entire PC, however, may be transferred to another end user, along with the software license rights. When transferring the PC to the new end user, the following must be included:

Original software media
Manuals (if applicable)
Certificate of Authenticity (COA)
It is also advisable to include the original purchase invoice or receipt. The original end user cannot keep any copies of the software.
