[TPU] AMD Performance Screams with Adobe Photoshop CC and Premier Pro CC - Page 2

This isn't a very fair comparison as an i5-3470 uses a Intel hd 2500 igpu. While the Amd uses a much better igpu for acceleration. rolleyes.gif I mean I know it would still outperform intel hd 4600 but they should at least be comparing top of the line to top of the line. smile.gif

Excuse me, but whats the cost of both?

I wouldn't get too excited over this, this basically would only be exciting for an AIO desktop niche

for laptops, unless all you're doing is work with Adobe, the better power characteristics and overall performance of Intel win out. For desktop/workstation you're going to pair a dedicated GPU with an Intel CPU and get the best of both worlds.

Again, while this is welcoming news, its nothing to get too excited about, just another step forward to climb out of the hole for AMD.

These two applications are also good indicators of the direction that the mainstream software ecosystem is going relative to the use of both CPU and GPU resources in computers systems; i.e. - heterogeneous compute. We expect to see even greater adoption of this approach as the tools and system architecture evolve with our Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA) initiative.

Sounds to me like this is HSA in action.

Good news maybe steam roller will be great and amd will have it's first good cpu in 5 years so i can get it and boycott intel and there no performance increasing crap.

The 6800k is cheaper by about 40 dollars compared to a 3470 but when you get into CPU's like the newer Intel Core i5-4430 with HD graphics 4600 that costs only 30 dollars more expensive you see that lead that AMD has here would shrink majorly.smile.gif Not saying this isn't good for AMD I just want to see more fair benchmarks. I mean Id like for AMD to give Intel some competition so we can see more performance increase. Intel wouldn't do this Haswell crap if AMD would just catch up. This is good for both sides of the fandoms. thumb.gif

This is more than fair comparison. Consumer devices are compared at price points. The i5-3470 has a better CPU while the 6800k has a better GPU.

Yep, and Intel did a fine job with OpenCL performance. Also, the HD 2500 has 6 cores, the HD 4600 has 20. If AMD is going to use the new A10-6800K for comparison, then they might as well compare it with Haswell, which is the new offering from Intel.

Well, it is mostly a marketing slide, of course they would want to show it in the best light possible.

They should compare a Haswell i5 with a HD 4600 as that fits the price point more than a 3470. A 4430 is cheaper than a 3470 and has about the same performance cpu wise. So no it really isn't.
