Fan controller?

Thread Starter
I'm pretty sure that I'm getting APEVIA X-DISCOVERY case, and 6 additional case fans. The reason I got 6 additional fans is because you can add 2 more to the case, and it was the best deal to get 6. I suppose I'll need a fan controller, right? I'm looking at the ZALMAN ZM-MFC1 Fan Controller Panel. Anyone have one? Is it easy to install? If I got a fan controller, would I be able to use Speedfan to control the speed of the fans?

Thanks

It's installed just like a CD drive. You punch out a little slot on the 5.25 bays (where you put CD drives), and slide it in. Then, connect it to the power supply, and your a go! Its really easy!

I have this one and yeah it's a breeze to install.

EDIT - Oh and just so you know, the LED's on the front are pretty bright and they dont turn off completely. So if you have your rig in your bedroom, expect a bright night light.

I've had that fan controller and that chassie. The fan controller is INSANELY bright. Its pretty easy to install. The chassie's fan grills need to be cut out. The obstruct airflow wayyy to much.

Agreed... it's BRIGHT, although I have it behind a door on my P180 so its not too bad. Also, you might want to know that the last 2 Switchs are basically just power connectors that you screw cables into, meaning you can't connect any connectors into them, it has to be the cable ends themselves. Didn't really understand why they did this myself, maybe for case lights I dunno. Anyway it wasn't a problem as I had a few spare molex connectors salvaged from a dead PSU that I could use to connect my fans into. Maybe others here can explain how they got around this issue with the last 2 switchs?

Its for a 12/5 volt fan is my best guess. Find a fan with only two wires running out of it and then plug 'em into the controller for high, low, or off. Thats about all I could come up with. I dont use them either.

I should be getting the fan controller tomorrow. I've got 4 extra 80mm fans. Where should I put these in the Aspire Discovery case? http://aspireusa.net/product.php?pid=186 I highly doubt I'll be able to put all these in the case, but I would like to put 1 or 2 in there. 2 are already in the front.
