Steam Games Reinstalling Win 8

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I want to install a clean Windows 8 copy cause I still have some issues from my old Windows 7. Is it possible to not have to reinstall my games/lose my saved games if I do this.
I have backed up the games. What happens when I do a clean Windows install?

If you have your steam library on a different HDD(or partition) all you have to do is point steam to the place your library is.

I do have my library on a different HDD. So you're saying if I do a clean Win install. Once I install Steam client I can just resume playing my games? I had a little problem with Batman AC when I did something similar

All your save games should be synched up to the steam server so you won't lose your progress.

As kill said all you have to do is point it to the right directory. Or you could copy all the game files into the steamapps/common folder (I think). When you try and run a game it will "reinstall" it, but it just checks to make sure all the files are there. Takes a minute

This is not true. Not every game supports cloud saving on Steam.

I would use Game Save Manager, to keep all of the saves. Then you can simply restore them before you start playing and you'll be good to go. One question, do you have Steam installed in another HDD... or just your games library folder?

I have done exactly what you are doing several times and have not had any issues.

I have steam installed on another HDD and my library is on that HDD as well. My OS is on my SSD
