Nokia 808. Is it worth it?

Thread Starter
I never owned a camera till now, I've seen some shots taken by Nokia 808 and they are amazing. It is being sold for around $300 here, I have that much saved up for PC components(Kaveri APU). Or will a portable hand held camera take photos just as good as it? Low light pics and zooming should be great as in Nokia 808. I'm impressed by it's zooming capabilities. Is it worth it or suggest any alternatives.

It will be better than most camera phones, but it will still not match a decent real camera.

If you want superb image quality, you should look for a standalone camera. For daily stuff and taking pictures with friends this will do fine.

With 300$ you can get an inexpensive second hand DSLR with something like a 18-55 and utterly destroy any camera phone and most likely any compact point'n'shoot.

After using it via my friend who's got one, I'd say stay the heck away from it unless it's under 150.
