Logitech G27 yay or nay?

Thread Starter
I'm looking to get a steering wheel control for my racing and simulation game. Now I just have a few questions about it.

Is it worth the price tag? Or is there something better?
I know the G27 is quite old, Is there any news that they will release a upgraded/newer version?
How does the control feel (Steering, shifting, etc)?
Can it be mounted to any type of desk?
Pros and Cons?
Anything I need to know about this steering wheel?

But the big thing is, will they be releasing a new or upgraded version?

I'm also open to all suggestions.

Thanks! thumb.gif

There are definitely better products out there. Problem is they're usually more expensive than the sale prices of g27.

The G27 isn't a bad wheel for the price, but there are more expensive wheels that make it look and feel like a toy. Force feedback is pretty weak but serviceable. The pedals are alright; much better than the Driving Force GT pedals, but far behind the CSR Elites, Clubsport pedals or the pedals included with the T500 RS. Shifting is kind of dull. No real force is needed to move the shifter.

The G27 will mount to most desks and its quite easy to set up and use. Since the pedals plug into the wheel it can be used in just about any game.

The best two things about the G27 are the price and the warranty. Logitech is quick to replace the wheel if it breaks, and there's a good chance it will if you use it frequently, as there's a couple of internal design flaws that Logitech has never addressed.

If you want to stay around the $200-300 range, I'd go for the G27 or that previously posted Fanatec Porsche 911 value pack. Only downside to that particular Fanatec bundle is the pedals. I've tried the basic Fanatec pedals before and they suck. Hardly any resistance and they just feel cheap.
