I will say for gaming go with either the sennheiser HD555's, or a pair of steelsound phones. I have to say playing with a clip on mic is the most annoying thing in the world.

Personal not to soloz. Since i have the extra cash i will be ordering "this week" I will go with the senn hd 595 instead of 555 and a pair of steelsound for my gaming. Amazon has a godly deal for them $35 with rebate. That's 50% off. WOOT

P.S. I am getting an EVGA nforce 680i motherboard.
i am the same as you are. i only use headphone. I used to own audigy 2Z and i upgraded to X fi card. I can guarantee that you will notice the difference.
P.S you need a good headphone
