Logitech G500 vs Roccat Kone XTD vs Corsair M65 vs Other laser mice

Thread Starter
I'm looking for suggestions on a new laser wired mouse. I want something similar or better than the Logitech G5 that I used to own - I primarily use the palm grip, and sometimes a palm/claw hybrid.

These are some of the replacements that I am currently looking at:
- Logitech G500 (not G500s because of the input lag problems that are still not fixed)
- Corsair M65
- Roccat Kone XTD

Budget is somewhat important but if there is a consensus #1 choice for my needs, I am willing to spend more. The Roccat seems to be very good, but at the price tag of $90, I want to be absolutely sure it is the mouse to get. Anyone have any other suggestions or comments?

m65 also has lag problems

why exactly you need laser? there are plenty of optical mice
if you like g5 shape you can get g400

Out of those, I would say Roccat XTD. If I were to suggest one, I would like to mention the G400s, which is basically the same shape as your G5, but it also has great tracking up to 800 DPI. Higher isn't too bad.

had a g5 for 4 years and been on a g500 for another 3, solid if you liek palm grip and awesome thumb buttons.

m60 is better than m65, the m65 sensor have issues.

I used to game primarily with the G500 and found that it was a very good mouse to game with, provided I didn't use the scroll wheel as a button (though that's fixed now that I somehow chipped some of the wheel during cleaning) and kept the braided cable from being kinked. The weight may be a factor and it became one for me after getting a new mouse pad but since the sensor is not smack dab in the middle I usually flicked my wrists and moved my arm when need be. I used to use the weight cartridge with a mix of 1.7 and 4.5g. but on the new mouse pad the mouse would drag more than what I was used to.

Not sure if you can find a new G500 for a decent price as it's been phased out pretty quickly. In that case you could try the other two to see if you like their shape. If you don't then there's always the G400 if you like the Logitech shape or the Deathadder for a wider grip. Those two happen to be my current go to mice (well, the MX-518) when I want something to palm.

As you notice a lot of people will jump on to push you away from laser mice.

I have never tried the Kone XTD but I have a Kone + and I love it but I had to RMA it because of the scroll wheel and now I am back to the Logitech G500 that it was meant to replace. The G500 series tend to develop a problem with the braided cord and started disconnecting in games and intermittently. I inspected the cord and found the problem. I simply found a position the cord worked in and taped it to the desk there and so far it holds the connection, I just hope it last until my Roccat gets back. I have a R.A.T. 7 but I can't change dpi on the fly the way I can with the Roccat and the G500.
