Sapphire 7790 Dual-X OC Edition Problems

So it seems some of these cards have problems, even one of the Newegg reviews says he had timeout problems.

Other people having this same exact problem.
http://www.sapphireforum.com/showthread.php?31197-7790-Display-driver-amdkmdap-stopped-responding-and-has-successfully-recovered&highlight=7790

I used the card in a build for a friend.

While gaming the card works great but while doing basic tasks or using programs the display driver stops working and has to recover. I was helping him in TeamViewer and the display driver would crash constantly & while checking on windows updates progress it even crashed.

I used the special 7790 driver package on AMDs website first & once I found out the problem I cleaned out the drivers & tried the normal 7XXX series driver package & the problem still existed.
I checked the ASIC quality and it was 72% so not that bad.

I think these cards are just faulty. The power supply should be more then enough as well being a 530W, A friend has the same PSU with a 7870 & has no problems. We even tried 1 stick of RAM and even down clocking the speed on it.

So just be careful if you're going to buy this card!

Did you check the idle or non-3d clock speed?

iirc some users had to make a custom clock , might be worth looking into if you have not found a fix yet.
