Also WarAnakin are the x64's going to be released at the same time?

Yep, as I said, it may vary between cards and systems, but from my experience, I've never seen consistent comparative analysis over time that shows any significant performance gains (overall) from using 3rd party drivers vs the Cats... When I compared the Omega drivers with the ATi drivers, I found that in one or two benchmarks the Omegas did better than the ATis by a small margin, but the mean change in benchmark scores showed the ATi drivers gave better overall performance.

If anybody knows of a web site that compares the performance differences between the drivers over time, I'd be very interested to see it. I've read a lot of opinions about the differences, but seen very few true comparisons.

I'm not saying all 3rd parties drivers are a total waste of time, but when you add up the download time, uninstall time, the driver cleaner pro time, the install time, the reboot time etc, you might be looking at 6 or 7 minutes and depending on your internet connection speed, that might be significantly more. All that, just to find that there's a 2% difference in performance in some games and that difference doesn't necessarily favour the 3rd part drivers... I'm not sure it's worth it. Increasing your GPU and/or VRAM frequency buy a few MHz would likely give you better results and take a lot less time...

Still, if they work better for some, that’s great. I'd love to see a statistical, graphical analysis over several months, or even years, comparing the differences in performance objectively and impartially between the drivers though. I'd be willing to bet the performance difference rarely, if ever, exceeds 5% in favour of any driver.

EDIT: I've had a look, but I can't find the damn page where I have all of the benchmarks for the old Omega and Cat drivers I compared... I found an old thread here (last post) however, where I posted the tabulated results of my old comparison... It pretty much echoes the Cat/3rd party comparison in this thread...

It most definitely varies from card to card, as my X1950 Pro, and MrPink57's, experienced great performence increases from the ATI 6.11 to the Warcat 6.11. This was due to the fact that the card was so new. The Warcat gave me an extra 150-200 points in 3dmark 06, and here is an example of someone else at Guru3d.com forums.

He say's "Now that's what I call a mature driver." A difference of 594 3dmarks!
Undeniable results. On the other hand, if you have a card that has been uot for a while, then the drivers have been tuned repeatedly for the card, thus the 3rd party drivers will yield less performence gain. The main benefit that you would look for in this case is the optimized game profiles, which Warcats have many. Not to badmouth the Omegas, but I have never took to them, but they do have some good options. Just a personal preference.
Also, remember, while synthetic tests are important, they don't reflect real-life performence gain all of the time, as I have seen with the switch to the new 6.12 form the Warcat's. Again, this is due to the fact that my card is new, and with each driver release I should see great performence gains, however in 3dmark I recieved a lower score with the new 6.12s, and better performence in BF2142.

I've had issues with every third part driver I've used.

Omega 6.5 and 6.7 would randomly remove the textures off of everything.
Warcat 6.11's have so far MESSED UP my HDR. In my '06 Canyon Test I get pretty LSD color patterns every time the HDR tries to render the water surface.

Well, I'm pleased these things work out well for some people. They never have for me and I'm not alone in that.

Does nobody know of a site that compares the different drivers? I'd like to see some proper analysis done comparing, for example, 6.10 Catalyst, with 6.10 Omega, with 6.10 WarCat. It'd be great if they had historical comparative analysis too, going back as far as possible though the versions. I've heard a lot of testimony about how great these 3rd party drivers are, but no real, hard scientific analysis seems to have been done... I'd love to do it myself, but having changed over to an Nvidia card for the foreseeable future its not possible for me anymore... My folding rig has a 9550 in it, with a 9600Pro GPU, but if you're saying that the 3rd party drivers only take a lead over the Cat drivers whilst the cats are still not totally optimised, I guess I wouldn't see much difference between the drivers with an old card like the 9550...

If anybody who knows of an independent site that compares the various drivers, please post a link here, it'd make interesting reading!

A site that did some benchmarks : http://www.3dacc.net/page.php?id=3255&pg=1

About EATM and Alpha to sharpening, the WarCat driver has the AA reworked
look here for some pictures, so i think i'll include EATM + Sharpening too.

You're new to this forum, so perhaps you're not very familiar with the rules we have here. Unlike many other forums you may have used in the past, this forum places a lot of emphasis on the conduct and attitudes of it's members.

Comments like yours lower the tone and are not constructive at all. I suggest you take a more moderate, mature attitude to other's posts, because if you continue to post unnecessarily negative, inflammatory responses to people's posts, your time here at o/c.net may be shorter than you might like.

Sorry for the off-topic post people!

Highly-Annoyed, maybe if you could tell me what applications you're running, i could somehow bend the WarCat driver your way too. Because this driver is intended to give every1 a boost, despite their PC settings and hardware. What i need is only one simple thing : info.
