NZXT Switch 810 - Airflow and SSD Mount

Thread Starter
I just received my Gunmetal Switch 810 yesterday. The rest of my build is coming today (except Graphics Cards) so I will actually be assembling it soon.

My first question is in regard to airflow. For right now, I'm only using one Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD. I might add another in the future or a few storage drives but for now, this is all I have. For optimal airflow, would it be better to completely remove the hard drive cages for more open space or should I leave them on there with two 140mm fans installed and pointed toward my Graphics Cards? (Will have two 770s, btw.) Removing the bottom cage would open up two more fan slots, but they would just be pointing straight up and not really directly at anything. If I remove both, I guess it would allow a better crossflow between the front and rear of the case? Like I said, though, I would also lose the two 140mm Cage Fans. I'm confused. redface.gif haha

My second question is are there any hidden or useable areas for mounting an SSD if I do remove the cages or just don't want to put one small drive in a big cage? I haven't found any other mounts yet but I'm hoping it's possible, somewhere.

Thanks for your help!
Gideon

1. Leave the cages and aim the two 140mm fans at your graphics cards. There is a very little gap on the bottom which will make it quite restrictive if you mount a fan in the bottom of the case and have it blow into your case.

2. I mounted an SSD behind the 5.25 drive bays using velcro tape. You can also use the hot swap drive for your ssd.

Thanks for the help!

Right now, I'm trying to install my Corsair H110. Can I install it with the fans external on top and the radiator internal then add two more fans to the bottom of the rad for push/pull? The screws that were included with the H110 don't seem long enough to connect the fans to the rad as it shows in the instructions.

NEED HELP FAST! lol Thanks. thumb.gif

Yes, you can. In my Switch I have 3x 140mm fans on the top held down with double sided tape and I screwed in the 120mm fans to my radiator and onto the case internally.
