Is my Conroe slow?

Thread Starter
hey, i built a E6300 conroe, and it just feels like its slow, since when i use programs such as virtual dub for video editing, the time needed to finnish editing is same as compare to my old amd athlon 1400, but compare to my friends labtop from Gateway intel centrino "CD" 1866ghz or 1800ghz, and it took half the time to finnish compare to my C2D

so iam wondering is there something wrong with my system ?

also i recently OC my system to 3150ghz, but yet it seems the video editing in virtual dub time is still the same, and also the system sometimes lags a bit.

so my question is , did i built my system wrong ? like when i put the parts together, i mess something up ?

Make sure you don't have any unnecessary resource hogs. Don't install stuff you don't know about. Run Super Pi and show us what you get.

Light_DN, you need to drop your temps by about 7C. 67 is way too high, you want them no greater than 60 for C2D. I think your superPi times are right on cue for your processor and overclock. I think most people hit 15sec with an e6300/6400 at 3.5ghz+ so you are doing fine .

Those temps are pretty high. Make sure you have good air flow. Regardless of the temps, it shouldn't be the thing hindering your performance.

Mind you, if the temps get high enough, couldn't the PC throttle? How long is a typical video encoding session?

PC throttle ? wats the means ? sorry if i didnt know that.
well when i encode 1 video containing a 45mins clip at full editing (differnet video format , different audio format) takes about 45mins on average on my pc [on my friends it took half of the time, like 17-20mins]

Throttling is when your CPU gets so hot, it slows itself down, so it produces less heat, and does not fry.
