Alienware x51

I recently made a great trade to land myself a alienware x51 with the intel i3 2120 in it for a HTPC, only issue I have are the temps, whats my best route to go to help get temps down on this rig, as I will be doing so mild gaming on it as well on my big screen, idle temps on the cores are like 45-49C

change the thermal paste, that may help bring it down a little, also find out what the cooler is, if it is stock or something small, you might want to consider an air cooler that has better performance like the noctua coolers or maybe an AIO

Yea thermal paste is on the list, but the issue with changing cooler is the small case its in from alienware you don't got much to work with kind of wondering if someone ever modded one of these to accommodate some kind of cooling.

my bad, i was thinking of a full tower, still, have a look around on newegg or similar for some quality lowline coolers, find one you like and read reviews on it to see if it suits your needs biggrin.gif

If you want to tear down the system, in the front intake there's a small fan, that blows in ward, if you take that fan and flip it around it exhausts heat out the system.

Here, you can see the fan in the front.
