Hello from Indiana

Thread Starter
Not to label myself a lurker, but I've been off and on OCN for the last few years while I've tried doing some light overclocking (not as a registered user, just popped in to read others' questions and others' inputs), but I feel like now with having some questions of my own that others don't seem to ask, I should just get on here and do it myself.

Very short insight into my computer knowledge, I've been building/repairing PC's for 16 years, since I was 9 years old and my dad was tired of me asking how to fix my computer problems all the time. I've been good about "trying new things" in terms of what the industry has come out to introduce: I was the first in my high school to own a 64-bit processor, the first to own a 1.0GHz and beyond processor, the first to own a dual-core, quad-core; first multi-GPU system. About the only one I didn't make it to was the initial 3.0GHz phase - I was rocking the AMD Athlon 64 3000+, which claimed to be "as good" as the 3.0GHz Intel.

It's awesome how times change - being thrilled to death that Half-Life 2 was coming out and my fresh new 128mb ATI (branded) Radeon 9600SE was ready to rock it, and in fact it included a coupon code to receive the game free (CHYEA). And all the meanwhile my best friend had his 256mb ATI Radeon 9600XT that I thought my card was "just about" as good as, when specs wise, it was about half. Oh well, I've always enjoyed making systems bang-for-the-buck worthy.

Today, I'm rocking both an AMD/AMD setup, and an Intel/Nvidia setup. No fanboy status here: I have rocked AMD/Nvidia (albeit unsuccessfully, quad phenom @ 3.9 still lagged a 1GB GTX 560Ti), Intel/AMD (recently - my i7-860 3.6GHz and my 2GB 7850 OC).

I've done some overclocking on my cell phones before, but stopped once I got tired of how incredibly hot my Samsung Galaxy Nexus would get in the hand and while talking. I have recently rocked and retired a Samsung Galaxy S3 16GB Pebble Blue, which is now just an MP3/MP4 player, and now I'm rocking my sweet lovely goodness of the LG Nexus 4 16GB. I recently had to sell my 32GB ASUS Nexus 7 through Amazon, which I'm currently waiting on a UPS investigation for a lost package! UGH.

Yeah that's the nerd intro, I'm a 25 year old husband and father of two (and a third on the way, due 11/2013) that recently got laid off from a 3 year position with Scientific Games International doing lottery system services for the Hoosier Lottery of Indiana. I would have been there a minimum of two more years, except the evil corporation of GTech based out of Texas (well, Incorporated in Europe) won a bid to privatize on the Hoosier Lottery, and my company was booted out. Severance checks are running out, but the contracting jobs are still coming in.

I hate spiders, and love coffee. Pretty much your average nerd.

Gaming on Anarchy Online, All Points Bulletin Reloaded, Battlefield 3, Crysis 2, and whatever else comes up on my mind at the time. 27MB down / 6MB up Comcast Xfinity internet = I can download my games fast :-)
