Hello guys!

I really need some guidance. I'm from Brasil and, I'm building a new PC from scratch, even keyboard and monitor will need to buy.

The thing that has been the most difficult for me to decide is the mobo, I'm thinking about sticking to ASUS on everything (already bought the VGA...)

Approximate Purchase Date: 2 weeks tops

Budget Range: US$1500,00~2000,00

System Usage: My primary use will be AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Lumion, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, inDesign), Sony Vegas Pro and Games (specially BF4)

Are you buying a monitor: Yes a 24" probably an IPS one for photo editing (adding as plus to the budget above)

Parts to Upgrade: new build, I need help specially on choosing the mobo (I'm buying everything from vga to mouse)

But I already bought the

VGA: ASUS DI-EN660DO DirectCU2 GTX660Ti OC

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K

HD: Crucial M500 240GB 2.5 SATA 3 6Gb / s SSD CT240M500S

Do you need to buy OS: Yes, I'll get the Windows 7 Pro/ Ubuntu

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: amazon, newegg.com, ncix.com

Location: Rio de Janeiro, Brasil

Parts Preferences:

MotherBoard: I was thinking ASUS: Z87-PRO or Z87-Deluxe or SABERTOOTH Z87

DDRAM: thinking about the Dual Channel Kit Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) - CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10

Cooler: will I need it? I already have the one that comes with the processor and I'm not planning on overclocking for now.

PSU: 650W or 750W? I don't know...

Optical Drive: is BlueRay worth it? Backups perhaps? I have not found much use for Blueray on my laptop (and I got a ps3 to watch movies...)

Case: a minimalist one like the Fractal`s DEFINE XL R2 TITANIUM GREY
http://www.fractal-design.com/?view=product&category=2&prod=112

Mouse: a high resolution one not necessarily a gaming mouse

Overclocking: Maybe(I`ld like to but I don`t know how and I`m afraid to. I don`t want to fry my main work computer)

SLI: Maybe(but probably not)

Thanks

You bought a i7-4770k and no CPU cooler? Haswell runs hot...

650W is enough. ~150W for Haswell i7 (full system , also see http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core-i7-4770k_11.html ) and 130-170W maximum for GTX 660 ti

Good choice on case, Fractal Design Define XL R2 is a fine choice.

It seems you're intent on ASUS? Asus Maximus VI Z87 Hero is probably the closest thing to a Gigabyte board this round , and it's the only ASUS board with the RAMdisk features besides the Maximus VI Extreme. Z87 Pro has wireless N while Z87 Deluxe has 802.11ac wireless and dual LAN.

Do not get Razer. Mediocre quality and terrible software, especially with their really bad DRM this time round.

I always recommend Logitech for mice and keyboards because they last forever (my G15 Blue keyboard is now beginning to lose some of the G keys after four years of heavy duty gaming).

My suggestion;

GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-OC (My opinion only ~$20 more then most of the choices you have up there now and it has lots of features incase you want to ever use them)
Any Set of 16GB memory from Corsair or G.Skill and you cant really go wrong.
Cooler you can wait off for now, but I would suggest looking at one just in case you would like to overclock so you dont have to take apart your rig again.
750W PSU should do fine (Also note DO not skimp out on the PSU, bad thing to do)
Optical Drive honestly I wouldnt buy unless you plan on using it, I never have used mine so it wasnt worth it for me.
Case is all up to you and what you like, just make sure it fits whatever motherboard you are going to get.
Mouse you dont need anything to fancy and once again everyone uses/holds their mice differently so its more personal rather then just pure spec's.

Hope this helps somewhat! thumb.gif
