I disagree. If you're going to go quad-core, 1155/1150. There's no point (except for maybe the extra PCIe lanes) in paying the premium for an X79 motherboard and then cheaping out with a quad-core 2011 chip.

Now do you think if I went with the six core option I should wait for Ivy Bridge-E or just get Sandy Bridge-E? Based on talk I heard about the quad line the ivy bridge was not much faster than the sandy bridge line.

Now if anybody wants I can also in my next post could share what i currently have so it could have more of a clear shot of what boat I currently am in.

CPU: recently upgraded to a Intel Core 2 duo E8400
Ram: 6GB
Motherboard: ASUS p5q Pro-turbo
Maxitor: 320gb HDD
Video Card: Nvidia GTx 550 Ti
