I'm sure there will be enough for the kids + their grandma

i totally hope so..

seeing this makes me want the ps4 more to be honest. i feel like xbox i will never get without having to pay more than it's worth.

They might have started early ramping up the production another step to make the Xbox one look bad.

AMD can not licence out x86 to anyone, including Sony and MS.

So yes, AMD is "producing" the chips (Via TSMC or others) and selling the finished products to Sony and MS. If the yields are too low, then AMD can not sell as much to Sony and MS, and possibly not cover the cost of production.

I do not think that will be an issue personally, but it can happen.
Then I sure hope they started stocking up sooner then now, that number doesn't sound all that high for the pre-order season.

300,000 wafers a month is an insane amount. Consider maybe 100 CPU dies per 300mm wafer and that is 300 million CPUs per month. So I doubt 300000 wafers per month but either way you state that 300000 wafers a month is not high I definitely have to disagree with you.

You want to try that math again?

Also, you assume perfect yields.

Lol yes whoops missed by a spot but yeah 30 million CPUs assuming perfect yields. Even if you were to assume only 30% yield you are talking about 18 million CPUs a month if those numbers were correct. 18 million a month is a ton even if you were splitting it evenly between PS4 and XboxONE. at 9 million a month for 5 months until launch you are talking about 45 million CPUs ready per system at launch for just 5 months production at 30% yield. 45 million CPUs would be enough to last several years assuming they sell at similar rates to the PS3 etc.
