Considering my HSF options...

Thread Starter
I've stumbled upon a little extra cash as of late, and I've now found myself looking for something I've never really shopped before: A HSF for myself.

I have several options I'm looking at for the HSF, in addition to a possible case upgrade to:
A) fit the new heatsink
B) provide better airflow
C) Cut down on noise with some 120mm's

The heatsinks I'm thinking about are the typicals, along with a few different choices I've found that offer some interesting specs:
Scythe Katana CU
TT Silent Boost
Thermalright SI-97
TT Volcano 12
Zalman CNPS7000B-Cu
TT Big Typhoon
and the beastly TT Sonic Tower
(Last 2 definatly requiring a new case)

I prefer Frozen CPU because I won't have to pay shipping on the case if the order is over $50. Case is open to any suggestions, as long as it's got plenty of space for a BT or Sonic Tower type cooler and dosen't cost an arm and a leg.

So? What do you think?

How much money are you willing to spend? BECAUSE. I'd say, idealy, get an Antec Nine Hundred, ThermalTake Big Typhoon, Lap your BT, Apply AC5, Install a FM-121B, but, that's like $250 dollars right there.

More realistically, get the Scythe Katana Copper HSF, swap out fan, and get Arctic Silver 5. $60 shipped.

If you are considering the Antec 900 like he suggested. I will try to find a link for the case. $80 + shipping for the Antec 900.

I also have the combo just as he has suggested above. I run at 25C Idle and 44C Load. Thats at 2.5 Ghz

I run 27C with stock Big Typhoon Fan at 2.8GHz. 4400+ as well.

Not that much.

Idealy, I'd like to keep totaly cost under $100, but I'd be willing to spend a little more to get good stuff. ($150 at the absolute max.)

Check out my edit, $60 option. Well, $150 max, RaCeR said Antec 900 for $80. Scythe for $60. That's only $140.

Thats the link to the case. You might be able to pick up the Big Typhoon for $50 shipped. That would keep it right at $150

i know everyones gonna hate me for reccomending this, but i bought a zalman CNPS9500 and i love it. installation was a little tricky but it dropped my load temp 15 degrees and my idle around the same. i know alot of people will reccomend the BT and the tuniq tower but dont be afraid of the zalman....
cant complain..

Get that Antec Nine Hundred, let's say $100 shipped. Big Typhoon, $40, Arctic Silver 5, $5, Sand Paper, $5, is $50. $100 Shipped + $60 Shipped = $160.
