Thread Starter
My parents rig I got for them a week or so ago.Current specs :
P4 HT @ 3.00Ghz - 1 core, 2 threads
2x512MB RAM DDR2 667mhz
On-board GPU
320W G-TEC PSU - modded
I'm looking into upgrading the CPU to a dual core.My two options are: Pentium D-820 / Pentium D-920 (Core2duo isn't supported by the dell bios)
Price of the D-820 is 10$ and for the 920 - 18$ . Is the 920 better in any way? I'll be using the passive cooler that's already pre-installed and if I have to,i'm going to install the stock intel cooler i have from my i5-3570k.
D-820 is confirmed to work while the 920 is a hit or miss situation.I think it's because it uses 65nm ,not 95nm like the D-820(the pentium 4 is 95nm too).I've read the 920 runs cooler and it's a bit better, but is it worth the risk ?
