Major artifacts/colour changing with GTX 480 despite cool temps

Hi there, recently upgraded my rig, and got a GTX 480. It's my first Nvidia card, I've always gone with ATI in the past.

I've installed the latest drivers (320.18) and tried reinstalling, selecting clean install, but no luck. I run MSI afterburner with no overclocking, but the fan set to 100%, however the problems still happen, even when it hasn't gone above ~50 degrees.

This only happens in games (I'm gonna use BF3 as an example, since that's what I play the most) - in normal non-gaming usage, it's fine. In BF3 though, it generally starts off by my gun changing colour, then my hand, then the people around me, then the text and images on the death screens going almost unreadable, followed by large black morphing shapes taking up half the screen so that it's unplayable. These problems stop (varies for how long) if I exit the game and launch again.

Does anyone have any ideas at all on how to fix this? I'd really appreciate it smile.gif

No his card is probably fine (or at least it was). Those drivers are dodgy and have baulked a few peoples cards. Uninstall them and install 314.22

Phew, faulty card was my first thought, glad it's likely to be the drivers. I haven't been gaming that heavily since getting the card, so hopefully my card's still fine. I'm installing the drivers now, thanks very much smile.gif

Cool. Have you got a stock cooler on the card or a 3rd party one? If you've got the stock one, i can highly recommend replacing it with a gelid icy vision. I had one on my 480 and card never went over 60C even when overclocked to 800 on the core. super quiet too :-) Alternatively, if you can get a cheap AIO cooler, they're an ideal candidate for the cable tie mod thumb.gif
