That's a good question. I'm not familiar with the 21, and I can't find any reviews comparing the two.

To my eyes, it looks like the 21 would be the better cooler. It has more heat pipes, and a beefier heatsink. The fins on the 29's heatsink are more tightly packed and the fan is bigger (120 vs 92mm) though, so I'm not sure.

Surely someone else here has experience with those coolers.

There's a big difference between a 120mm fan and a 92 in terms of air it can move, plus a 120 is a lot quieter when trying to cool a CPU under load. What I would do, if the Contac29 was my best option, is to mount a second fan to the other side and set the fans in push-pull configuration. That's how I ran my 212 Plus; I just used the extra mounting bracket in the package and installed a Sickleflow 120mm fan on the other side. The Contac29 also has mounting brackets for a second fan.

I think that board is the limiting factor. you need a better board to truly see what a q9550 can do thumb.gif

Since the TJMax is 95, my QX9650 reads 10 degrees high in Speedfan, and 5 degrees high in Coretemp.

HW monitor, i tested with P95 (almost 48 hours) and IBT (55 passes)
