oh i forgot to mention this before you install motioninjoy, delete motioninjoy completely from your computer first. and then Disable driver signature enforcement. if you don't disable it motioninjoy is not going to work at all. just google how to disable driver signature enforcement. after you disable driver signature enforcement, install motioninjoy again and follow the steps that airisom2 told you. let me know if it works out

I'll give that a try but im not holding my breath apparently from what i seen it only works with legit sony controllers and 3rd party ones do not work at all.

and when done with everything, when you in motioninjoy make sure you click on that box that says Xinput-Default Xbox 360 Controller Emulator, and then click on enable at the bottom. you should feel a vibration on your controller, when then happens that means it's working.

Oh, you're not using an original DS3 controller. That might be your problem. You'll have to add your controller to the list that the Motioninjoy drivers support.

Go to Device Manager, and find your controller.
Right click it, and go to properties
Go to the details tab and click Hardware ids on the dropdown box
Copy the Hardware Id(s)

Go to Program files, Motioninjoy, ds3, drivers, and click on MijXinput.inf

Paste your hardware ids into the MotioninJoy.NTx86.6.0 section, the MotioninJoy.NTamd64.6.0, the MotioninJoy.NTx86 section, and the Motioninjoy.NTamd64 sections. Make sure to copy over the %MIJ... prefix stuff that's behind the other hardware ids. It doesn't matter where you paste it within each section, but I recommend pasting it right below the title that separates the x86 from the x64 stuff, just for the ease of knowing where it's at.

So, what does this do? It makes Motioninjoy recognize your device. Your device's id probably wasn't on the list, which makes motioninjoy turn a blind eye to your device. If you need some more clarification, feel free to ask. If it doesn't work, then get an original DS3 controller (I would say an X360 controller, but nobody is selling the OEM IR receiver for the X360 controller, and most of the generic clones are known to not work).

For what its worth - I have the wireless xbox 360 pc controller and I have yet to play a game that doesn't detect it and automatically map the buttons. Works perfectly with GTA 4 on steam, Need for Speed Most Wanted on Origin and most recently FFXIV beta for PC.

Has been minimal setup and definitely plug and play, all this crap you've had to go through to get your controller working seems like way too much work.
