Reason being is because you're loading the whole video - but then compressing it.

Hey, i just wanted to say: That's not the case

Youtube and Twitch transcode video - the primary reason for lower quality is being able to download only a fraction of the original file size, for faster buffering of video, or in the case of twitch, allow somebody to watch your video if you upload at 3mbit 1080p and they have 2mbit download. They can't download a file in real time from you uploading 1.5x faster than their download - but the server can somewhat easily transcode to a lower resolution, quality and thus file size in order to send to those people (youtube/twitch)

What I did about the mic was to activate my onboard soundcard and use it exclusively as a Microphone input and the X-fi as sound output, with the "What U Hear" set as default in Windows's sound settings. I believe you can't have both Microphone and "What U Hear" captured at the same time on X-Fi cards, which is extremely annoying, so having the 2 sound cards enabled solved this problem.

Yes the game uses OpenAL. I didn't know that about X-fi cards. I think you may have saved me from myself. I think I may still get another mic, but I am definitely trying this when I get home!
Thank you!

If so - yup same here.

Actually no, volume was just fine. Although my mic has horrible feedback... but I wonder if that is just my Xfi card now. Voice sounds fine in games, but direct mic recording always has some feedback.

If it uses OpenAL then I'm sure the audio is being processed on the sound card and you can only use "What U Hear" to capture it. Notice how when you change the default recording device in the Windows sound panel, all the other recording devices from the card change to "Device not available" or something like that. That's why you need to use the other sound card as the input device for your mic.

As for your mic feedback problem, check if you have the microphone activated in the playback devices, and if so, mute it.

God forbid you have any sort of problem, I tried using Quicksync with Afterburner and got an error (the same one) most times but others it worked fine, asked about this in the forum for MSI Afterburner and was told to talk to Intel about it. (Inevitably this post will be quoted in their forum likely by the developer himself saying I didn't follow the instructions to set it up.)

I suspect though that Nvidia will eventually stop these programs using NVENC in some way as it really does remove any reason whatsoever to use shadowplay besides the DVR functionality and even that will likely be added to other programs too.

Don't mean to sound grumpy or anything...I appreciate all the help etc...but like, I ask, everywhere, geforce forums, here, etc for some known good render settings to render out the shadowplay recorded files, and everyone who replies seems to say everything OTHER than what I inquired about. Somebody must know, cause apparently the horrible quality that only happens with shadowplay recorded files is my own fault (or at least this is what I keep getting told). So...enlighten me? Seriously...it's getting a bit old...
