OK - I don't think the SLI bug is fixed:
Test range:
160FPS
Activate:
120 FPS

That's a considerable drop - and I'm sure the same drop would occur in other scenarios - so no, I don't deem it fixed or looked at mad.gif
post #1602 of 2137
160 to 120 is very harsh. That's a 25% drop - the other screenshot was an 18% drop, which is closer to expected

Given that we're still looking at sub-10% for single gpu 1080p60, i'l take this as another incentive to prioritize a single, stronger GPU.

Also i'l post some stats from a while ago:

Sc2 bench run with no recording:

--

Sc2 bench run with 1080p60 shadowplay

--

Sc2 bench run with 1080p60 OBS gamesource +x264 veryfast encoding (didn't hit 50% cpu load on any thread OR use the same core that primary game thread was on)

I'm using OBS gamesource + nvenc a lot now, it corresponds to the middle graph, not the last one. I think it's very obvious why it is a good thing for this to exist wink.gif

Yeah it's good to have this "control" over the GPUs.
Nvidia with their recording - which enabled people like OBS to enable it too.
And then AMD with mantle

Hey bro you got 337.50?

I'm gonna test it in sc2 in a little, but people are quoting 25% gains on bf4 when cpu bound

hey bro - yeah I'm on it.
25% gains - how did they manage to calculate that lol?

Seen quite a few more, i'm gonna do some testing myself

To recap the testing in that thread: (for the lazy guys tongue.gif)

1080p 780Ti 3930K

THIEF: 15.6% improvement

Sleeping dogs: 7.7% improvement

ACIV: Black flag: 9.8% improvement

Bioshock infinite: 5.9% improvement

BF4 siege of shanghai (med details) : 27% improvement

BF4 siege of shanghai (ultra details) : 27.2% improvement

BF3 Strike of Karkand: 39.5% improvement

Hitman absolution: 40% improvement

Star swarm (5 run average) : 46.9% improvement

nvidia wrote big numbers (like >50%) for rome II i think, and i'm excited to see if any change for sc2, or Planetside 2. For ps2 though, i would have to have someone ingame w/ skype with CPU settings i could match against and a radeon GPU

Given that the nature of the improvements are with reducing CPU load and unlocking higher FPS, you probably won't see any performance difference if it would let you run say 100fps instead of 80fps on your hardware, but you were running at 60fps because of gpu limits. That'd be true for pretty much everything - most importance with api improvements are for people targeting high FPS, people with a lot of GPU power, people with weaker CPU's and games where CPU limits show often

well I can easily disable SLI and let a single 680 try 1440p lol.
That would run really low.

I can't see where the optimisation lies or is linked to CPU though?

CPU load- as we have established in the other thread (BF4 benches) - it really doesn't effect your FPS. The deviation of it affecting it is minimal - so we cannot say it affects it at all.
Thus CPU load - doesn't really effect it much - if there's a 20%+ improvement - it's coming from the GPU.
I would like to know what's causing those changes or reports.

Could you link the threads that say people have been gaining so much? I would really like to know how they're achieving it.

ShadowPlay on:

So it isn't fixed yet SMH.

@ManuelG_at_NVIDIA

When can we expect a driver which has a fix?

It's for increasing FPS when CPU bound, which happens a lot for people on bf4, say trying to get 120fps on 1080p

With these new drivers, Metro LL benchmark went from 58 to 70.7 avg. Single 780 Ti, 2560x1440, High preset, phyxs off, SSAA off, Tess normal, motion blur low

The 40% drops WERE insane. Honestly 18% - that's plausible as double the hit from single card, it's expected for SLI to have significantly higher performance hit, i think we talked about that before - it was just broken with bug and losing over 1/3 fps before. Did we have significantly better results with first releases, before the bug?

Before the bug the drop was 1%-2%. Similar to what single card users experience.
