2; No, it's pretty much invisible. I gave it a quick bench on sc2 low settings and the performance hit was less than 3%, invisible looking at a frametimes graph, will need to get more data there
3; Unthinkably better
Hardware encoder doesn't support higher than 1080p60 AFAIK, frankly i was surprised that it was the default, i expected way worse performance hits for 1080p60 if it were even an option over 1080p30. Higher resolution is likely impossible.
Hardware encoder needs more bitrate than cpu encoding to make the video look as good, and just in general, shadowplay is a PERFORMANCE solution, not a QUALITY solution
That's one hell of a set of ssd's you have there and gpu power too, so maybe not what you are looking for (you can probably do stuff like dumping lossless data or close to it at much higher resolution) but the shadow feature (hit button; last 20 mins of gameplay is dumped onto ssd) or even just recording 10 hours of footage without being aware that you accidentally left shadowplay recording it could be fun for Edited by Cyro999 - 10/28/13 at 12:04pm
