i5 4670K Cooling Questions

Thread Starter
Will I be able to achieve a stable 4.7 on the Haswell? Does it produce as much heat as the Ivy did when voltages were bumped up?
Will a water cooler be required for it or would a 212 evo work?

Mobo: Asus Z87-CATX

IIRC haswell has the same thermal solution ivy bridge did. As for whether you can get 4.7 depends on your ability to overclock and many will protest on the chip you got as well. 4.7 I would say would be a bit high for a hyper 212 but whether it would be worth your while to watercool would be an expense you'll have to find out.

Your motherboard has 4 CPU phases if I am correct which I wouldn't say is a good option to do such heavy overclock on it. Generally Asus includes their TPU option if they expect the board to be overclocked.

Short answer. I wouldn't recommend it.
