Should final version of BF4 run fine on my 7790 1GB on 768p High settings (not ultra) without AA ?

The reason I held off on upgrading my video card was because I knew the new consoles were likely coming out this year. That is why I am waiting for 20nm gpus to hit, hopefully they will keep up a little bitter with all the games hitting the next gen consoles.

I know, strange they have 780, titan, 690 (which is 2x 680 or w/e) and no 7970 CF. Is this site a bit biased?

Nothing wrong with max settings but I'd rather see max settings with AA levels that the normal person will run rather than the same settings with AA levels that will kill all cards.

Especially on 1440p resolution... at which for me, 2xMSAA versus none is hard for me to tell personally, so i leave AA off on 1440p. Although 1080p is a different story, AA is needed at that res.

But yes, they have to do benchmarks without AA or at least FXAA as minimum but with everything else maxed out. AA is, for me, the one "luxury" setting whereas other stuff like textures and shadows takes higher priority. I could not give a damn about higher AA if the texture looks like smeared mud to begin with.

as for the consoles, the Xbox One allocates 5 GB out of its 8 GB for games, taking 3 GB for its OSes. the PS4 allocates 7GB out of 8GB, but still, that 7GB has to be partitioned into CPU or GPU ram, depending on the game.

And at this point, 3 GB is minimum VRAM for the near future for our PC GPUs, 2 GB won't be cutting it soon anymore.

well to be honest it's better to have just the 7990 only (ARES is a 7990 i believe but overclocked) than have so many video cards on a single chart (i.e more added to the already long list). redface.gif

as for the biased part, i got no response to that as i'm not familar with them.

It's alpha and far from optimized. We can't really make any proper conclusions out of this.

Running 120Hz is risky since you need to maintain the 120FPSm, why? you ask, because when the frames drop below native refresh, even at 90FPS, the gameplay feels as if its though 35FPS.
If your going for a 120hz solution you better make sure you have the grunt to maintain or you will be in for a rude shock.

I agree, I run BF3 at 120hz on my 690, all settings ultra, post processing off, 2xmsaa, hsao on and depending on the size of the server (# of players) and what's going on my fps range from 80-200.

I also think that for a competitive fps, AA is not important imo.

Either way, crappy test, move along.

Edit: Sniped. Posted the same pic that moustache posted above. As he noted, it obviously says "Video Memory Usage"

I also never saw anything about having 4gb (when referring to vram) so I think you ARE talking about the recommended RAM somewhere else in the linked article I guess?

So you guys are saying there's absolutely no difference in performance or hardware requirements between BF3 and BF4.

I see.
