Yeah I get that, and I am not saying "herp derp go buy a titan". But what I mean is that the higher amount of vram is going to become a real requirement very soon. I suspect that everyone will be able to get away with 2-3GB easily until the 800 series rolls around. By then, I really think the minimum will be 4GB cards. Everyone who owns a Titan has been saying that for months, and it isn't because we are all trying to justify the insane premium we paid for the card. It is just because it is the logical step. Every couple years the vram requirements for games goes way up.
And not everything is about optimization. You can only take that so far. Especially when developers consider 30 fps to be enough for consoles, when you consider that (even if they are claiming 60 fps gaming on the new gen), it has always been stacked against PC gaming to begin with. It should improve now with x86 hardware and supposed 60 fps on them, but we will still see much more overhead on PCs.
