Do I lose my optical drive? New laptop, installing ssd fresh so it will be easier

I have ordered this laptop and it arrives Tuesday.

I also ordered this Samsung ssd

However I have been reading that I will have to replace my optical drive AND buy a bracket type thing to go there instead, does this laptop have another port to plug the ssd into? I know I don't know the tech terms, I'm learning as I go. Any other tips are welcome. Also if I do a fresh install to the ssd, and have the hdd unplugged when I do so

Will the hdd appear as another drive, then I just set all the MY folders to be in the HDD. And everything else will be normal after that, as far as normal, I guess office/school use, will just be normal right? This iPhone loves to spellcheck things and I hit submit(big thumbs). Sorry for the inconvenience. And Thank you ahead of time for all help

From what I am gathering you want to add the SSD along with the 750GB Hard drive. In that case the only option you have is buying a caddy for the optical drive slot and adding it that way. It will be a SATA connector. If that isn't what you want to do and you want to pull the 750 you will be able to just replace it with the SSD and then do a fresh reinstall. If you don't want to do a fresh install but instead clone your OS then do a search for that here on the forums and it will give you most of the information you need.

Damn, so it doesn't have another slot, the only other data slot is for the optical drive? How would I do a recovery/reinstall if I removed the optical drive?

Laptops nowadays have a Partition with the needed files. With the help of there own software you can back the whole partition up into a few DVD's. Did this many times with many different laptops. If I had a choice to use Optical drive VS SSD and 750GB Combo instead of a Single 750GB, Then there is no doubt in my mind I would go with the SSD+HDD.

So I would need to keep the partition on the SSD or the HDD. If I completely restore my laptop to the SSD so that it boots from the SSD will the recovery partition be on the SSD so I can delete everything off of the HDD

Yes. Just clone your HDD to SSD with Acronis or something.
