Ducky Shine II - Multimedia Keys

post #1 of 5

Does anyone know if the keys on this keyboard (specifically the Ducky DK9008 Shine II) on the top-right of the keyboard (above the num pad) are re-programmable?

I'd like to be able to swap stuff like the "My Computer" for opening task manager, etc etc.

If not, is there another way I can re-map the keys?

Thanks!

Just researched this myself because I got a Ducky Shine II recently (and I'm LOVING IT!)
What colors/switch are you planning to get?

Anyways, using a popular program called AutoHotKey (AHK) you can easily write little scripts which can remap the multimedia keys for you.

AHK Site: http://www.autohotkey.com/
List of Keys: http://l.autohotkey.net/docs/KeyList.htm

Example Script I Just Wrote:
Code:
Launch_App2::
Send {Backspace}
return

So this remaps the calculator multimedia key to the backspace key, quick and easy!

I plan to get the Blue back lit/Cherry MX Blue switches. Think I am going to go with the white key-cap model.

And very, very nice find. Thanks for the tip!

Nice, I got Blue Backlit, Brown Switches, White Keys, Black Body.

I really love the look of the white keycap model, it's so unique and clean looking! Black on black is boooooring!

If you're interested I made an unboxing a review video that you can check out here:

Have you had a mechanical before?
Blues are a bit loud for some and take a a bit more force than brows, but they aren't too bad at all.
I've used blues and browns and prefer browns over blues myself, and a lot of people say brows are a nice middle ground switch, but everyone has different tastes and preferences.

Enjoy your new keyboard!
