I always dual boot Linux and Windows.
I just recently install Vista x64 dual with my Fedora x64
and because of the whole Vista x64 signed drivers fiasco I have the Linux 64 bit working better than the Vista 64 bit.
Until all your devices are supported by signed 64 bit drivers stick to Linux.
I agree with the post above, if your new go with Ubuntu.
It has good support and a huge online community willing to help.

Lets not forget about the eye candy

Its not the reason I switched to Linux but it sure is a nice bonus...and when your Vista buddies are all stoked about their pretty new OS you can show them beryl and watch their face turn green with envy.
