Will Crossfire 7970 be enough?

Thread Starter
So atm i have a 7970 and a 7950 with a 3770k at 1440p and in some games namely crysis 3 I can start to feel the strain on the cards in my fps. Just saw the alpha benches for BF4 and it looks pretty demanding. I was already going to upgrade the 7950 to a 7970 but now im thinking instead of getting the second 7970 should i just say **** it and get the 7990 and trifire? Also the 7950 is going in a friends rig so it out of the picture and ill be building a full custom loop and OCing everything so heat shouldnt be an issue. Have a sabertooth z77 if that makes a dif in my decision.

If you haven't overclocked yet I would do so. If you're building a new rig I d consider waiting on the 8/9000 series otherwise I d do 2/3 7950s. The added cost of the 7970 just doesn't seem worth it when 7950s are so cheap right now.

That's sound advice. A CFX 7970 / 7950 should be enough for BF4 at 60 FPS on average. Overclocking it should get you anywhere from 10 to 15 more FPS. If you're itching to upgrade, I'd say wait till the 8970 comes out this fall when Battlefield 4 comes out and get that. There's no reason to upgrade now if BF4 is what you have your eyes on.
