Unfortunately they didn't have th 39 inch panel but apparently they did but it was grabbed for CES. Damn I should have went by a few weeks ago. I left my business card with them and they said they would call and I could demo it if/when it comes back.

I also brought up the 60Hz thing via two HDMI cables and they said that it was something they were investigating if it would be feasible for them to do or not. So they are aware and interested in doing it if possible.

Nice research, thanks for going there!

My 39 inch seiki arrived. Anyway it acts differently than the 50 inch. It will take 31Hz @3840x2160 and 120hz @ 1080p and 240hz @ 720p just like the 50 inch display but when I give it > 31 hz unlike the 50 inch which activates its scaler and generates a really crappy looking picture the display appears to just turn off the panel.

I can't even access the OSD/menu/input selection when its getting a >31 Hz signal it just goes totally blank until I reset the display or I switch to a lower refresh rate mode.

Version info on the 39 inch:

Baseline Ver: 52 -> Screem goes black when I try to go into this menu for baseline version.

Order Form: SY13148
Board Ver: ST2975K_R10.3
Panel Info: CMI_V390DK1_LS1
Customer: SEIKI
Produce Date: May 24 2013
Produce Time 19:31:20

Later i found out something very disappointing new (for me). Although the 39 inch model accepts 120 and 240Hz modes just like the 50 inch unlike the 50 inch I found that at 1920x1080 @120hz and 1280x720@240Hz the panel is only updating at 60 Hz where as the 50 inch updates at 120Hz at both of those modes. Really hoping that a firmware update fixes this as not being able to do 120Hz natively is a big disappointment for me. Due to this it seemed like quite a bit more input lag due to the fact that frames are getting dropped.

Here is a picture of my dad's triple monitor setup at work. He got his seiki 39 inch the same day I did.

He has the 39 inch seiki with the dell 3007-WFP on top of it and a dell 2407-WFP to the right.

dads_setup-small.jpg

Of course he has absolutely no need for 120Hz. So far he is very happy with it as it replaced a VP2290b. He was starting to have issues reading it due to how far back he sits and that the vp2290b was over 200 PPI. He runs windows at default font settings but even with reading glasses it was starting to give him trouble. He is 55 years old.

I think I am having the same issue. I put 120hz in CRU but the TV only ever produces 60hz. Thought it was my lack of knowledge overclocking monitors.

Not that it really matters to me as I wanted it for the 4k but it would have been nice.

What if I told you that I know of someone who thinks 30FPS is playable? His excuse is that it gives him more time to enjoy the beautiful visuals. At that point we were no longer friends.

Well he has more time since he will fail more often to correct for the input lagg caused at 30Hz

At this point, what we really need is a 60 Hz 4k monitor with a street price of under $1,000 USD. It doesn't have to come with a premium IPS or IGZO panel, VA will do, but we do need a quality monitor to set the precedent.

Asus will by 2014 but it will come with a price premium I would say no less than 1200 dollar.
