From what I understand, floppies are the only way to get 3rd party raid drivers installed with a new Win XP installation. You can get a floppy drive for like 5 or 10 bucks now, then go to the HDD manufact. website (on another pc of course)and download the correct driver to the floppy. Then when prompted, hit F6 and put the floppy in. Should be good to go after that.

I have actually hooked a floppy up to download drivers, unhooked floppy then hooked it up to the machine getting WinXP and installed drivers. Took floppy drive back out and put in a pile of stuff till I need it again.

Hope this helps.

It is most likely a BIOS setting you have overlooked--not a driver issue. Enable SATA in BIOS and disable quick boot so ou can watch in the POST and see if the drive is picked up.

I have the same problem with the same hdd's. What I do in order to get a fresh install of XP, is install on a regular IDE and then use Seagate new hardware utility. What it does is create an exact copy of the IDE drive to the SATA drive. At that point as long as your BIOS is set up right all will work fine. This may not be the correct way but I have had no problems with this method so far (about 6 month).

I've never installed drivers for a single hard drive. Like noshibby said, unless you're doing a raid array (doesn't sound like it) there's no need to install drivers. If xp install doesn't recognize your HD, check your bios like cyberdruid said.

you should just beable to install it fine, i didnt have to install any drivers for my new SATA HD... unless you're running RAID you dont need any additional drivers.
