That's my PSU, it reviewed pretty well but I guess that's what I get for purchasing from Tigerdirect. My next will be a Corsair for sure.

couldn't find a review on your particular unit but the 1200w one is here
http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story5&reid=174

they are quite old PSU's too

to be fair you gave your PSU around the same money I do mine, however I didn't get Modular for that type of dough

I have read that due to the lower power draw in the new Haswell CPU can trigger the power supply's under voltage protection. They recommendation that I have read is to turn off the power supply and unplug it from the outlet. This will allow the power supply to reset.

You may have already tried this, but thought I would mention it either way.

just to add.. please please please get familiar with three words at least when
talking about temps:

TCase, Core temperature and TJmax

TCase (as the name says.. case) is 72,6 °C for my 2500k for example.

Core temperature(s) is/are the temp(s) for each core and goin up to 98°C @ my processor
but it is not healthy and i prefer staying under 75°C

Browse the web for your processors..
Like the first dude i also start facepalming when someone says his temps are 85°C ( he means cores)
and another dude begins arguing about hooow damn high that is ( meaning TCase specification) and that he will kill
his CPU.. no offense people.

I'm afraid to test any new parts in my machine out of fear that whatever the faulty part happens to be will kill the new part :/
post #27 of 28
The only thing that can "KILL" is a nasty and really really faulty PSU. The rest will either work ir it won´t
( as long as you did not do some physical damage to the components and it short-circuits because of this)

CPUs have solid protection mechanisms against heat. 72c is NOTHING, they can easily take it. IB/HW throttle at around the 95c point. If temps keep going up, the PC shuts down. Thats the way its been for many generations of CPUs thus far.
