Will my CPU hold up to next-gen games?

post #1 of 6

After seeing the frostbite 3 tech demo, it's a little daunting to think of my lil 7770 trying to run BF4 and Mirrors Edge 2. So, I'm thinking an upgrade might be in order. With that being said do you think my A10-5800k at 4.4 GHz will be able to handle this and next years games with a ~200 graphics card?

It should work with maybe a 570 / 6950 / 6970 or something like that and provide you
with something like 30-40% more performance.. or even a 580

There may be slight bnecks caused by the cpu at more cpu dependant
scenarios..

But it would be still a great update compared to the 7770.

Would a 660 or 7850 be a bottlenecking situation?

I´d say its similar to the other cards.. but i did not see overclocked benchmarks of your cpu
so theese two might be ok to.. as the highest cards i´d put in there.. every other higher
card would be a waste of performance..

I´d take one of theese cards i mentioned or theese two you mentioned. The card with the lowest
price would win the match (;

I bet they will.. at least a lil bit.
If not 2nd hand hardware is still a good choice.

Good luck!
