What prompted you to reset the CMOS?

Perhaps you need to re-flash the BIOS?

Asus should have a live utility to do it over the internet...should be on your mainboard disk utilities

Plop your Mobo CD in the drive and restart. For more specific instructions check your Mobo's user manual under "ASUS CrashFree BIOS utility. It is generally used for corrupted BIOS', but see if you can get it to reload.

For an updated BIOS using a floppy drive is the easiest way (need an operating PC), at least for me. Download the BIOS and copy it to a floppy using a utility like Nero. I am not sure about your Mobo, but Asus generally provides several options. The AFUDOS utility is the easiest. Take a look at your manual for detailed instuctions. If you don't have them check for the instructions by Googling...if you have no luck, post back and I will scan and post the instructions from my manual.

Good Luck

P.S. Sorry the first paragraph is so glib, i'm too sleepy

Damn!

Sorry Bro, I'm tapped. I don't know anything about Gentoo x64. There is a Linux Guru around these parts by the name of Jester. Perhaps he will see this, or you could PM him...
