Dead Space 3 - Game not launching

Hey guys,

Been trying to get help from EA and their forums, but they've been absolutely no help at all.

Anyway the problem is I brought Dead Space 3 last week, and have been unable to play it.

Whenever I try to start the game from Origins, a shortcut or the .exe itself, the game does not launch at all.

A window will pop up in Origin saying 'Launching Game...' then closes, and nothing happens. No process starting, no error or crash messages at all.

All my other games on Origins work perfectly fine, and I have tried the following to remedy this problem:

  • Disabled anti-virus, and firewalls.
  • Unchecked 'Enable Origin ingame' in Origin Settings.
  • Restarted Origin.
  • Restarted Computer.
  • Updated drivers.
  • Reinstalled Origin.
  • Reinstalled Dead Space 3.
  • Performed a cleanboot.
  • Attempted to add Dead Space 3 to the Data Execution Prevention list - but the .deadspace3.exe could not be added. Tried disabling DEP completely, did not make a difference.
  • Scanned harddrive for errors.

EA have not bothered to contact me further on this, and I sincerely doubt they will patch the game if it's on their end.

Anyone able to shed some light on this issue?

Do you have any Hardware/FPS monitoring programs running in the background?

I had to shut down MSI Afterburner myself to get DS3 to launch once it was unloaded it started everytime.

I made sure anything like that was shutdown, still doesn't make a difference, unfortunately.

Even doing a Cleanboot with only the windows processes running, the game still doesn't launch.

have you reinstalled or run a repair on the origin install?

i have ridiculous issues with corrupt files when downloading and installing just about anything off of Origin... Dead Space 3 included.

I have done, yeah, still no luck. :\

Would be way less frustrating if there was an error message of some kind, but alas no notifications at all.

i saw on another forum that one person's game was actually launching at an unsupported resolution... may be worth taking a look at user/appdata/local/ea games/dead space 3 setting.txt.

Checked as well, resolution and settings are fine in the .txt file.

But thanks anyway.
