Double up or upgrade for Haswell?

Thread Starter
I currently have Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4) PC3-12800 (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9) and I am going to buy the following:

Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz
Asus Z87 MAXIMUS VI GENE Intel Z87

To buy the exact same dual channel kit that I have would be £54 which will take me to 16GB (4x4GB) but will this hinder the mobo/haswell combo or should I get some of the new 2400 stuff like the Vengeance Pro @ £160+

Gaming rig ...

Thanks
Sammy

I personally don't think it's worth changing/upgrading. You won't see any benefit going from 1600MHz-2400MHz if you're just gaming, and that other 8GB will probably just sit there unused, if you're just gaming, most people I know have never gone above 5/6GB ram in the vast mount of games they play.

I also find that new Vengeance Pro stuff incredibly overpriced. I'd suggest you just stick with what you have got smile.gif

It won't hinder anything unless you're benchmarking or going for a very small increase in fps while gaming. 1600 c9 is fine for haswell, and that's $100 more you can throw into your gpu budget, or whatever. thumb.gif
