I see the update..

I haven't found any MSI GTX 770 lightnings under 450 or 399 so obviously a used msi gtx 680 lightning from 300 to 350 isn't dumb to me and ebay has no tax and free ship.

I thought I would have to worry about my 2gig of vram but its a safe bet that will not happen to late into next year once new console ports get out. If anything just pick up a 680 for sli like I did....going for like 300 on ebay and will smoke a 780!!!

Thanks for reminding me that I can now bench both of my 2GB 680s and see how they compare to 780s (I paid for both of mine less than what one 780 costs).

Just my opinion I just don't think a extra $150 plus is worth it for the performance in a 770, it just isn't a big gap between a 680 and 770 to me. The titan or a 780 is worth the money but that is out of my ball park budget right now.

I've seen most "used" GTX 680's for $300 to $350 on ebay, I even found a MSI GTX 680 Lightening in auction right now for $295 so yeah I rather stick to a used 680 save about a $180 bucks after taxes and shipping. I'll be happy with the "10% less performance" in the long run.

i got my 680 BNIB for 300. craigslist is my friend.

I considered going to the 700 series, but as a 680 owner the 780 is just way over priced! So, I picked up a second 680 for sli and probably saved 800-900 usd from not upgrading to 780's. As far as 770 goes, it is just a 680 with a new bios that has a higher clock....I can achieve same clock with precisionx on my cherry picked 680's that will take +150 on core and +500 on memory with no crashes! Not a single issue with sli in any games....smooth as a babys ass...so personally, 680's will handle any game at 1080p (bf4) and even 2560x1600.... save your mony peps for 800 series! it will be worth the wait....ha

I feel the same about the 780, I did have a 570 and now picking up a 680 and gonna pick up another I thought that was the best option for me, since getting a better performance then a single 780 with less of the cost I feel happy. I plan to build a new rig this time next year and head to the 800 series since my 920 is showing it's age, I might as well skip the 700 series and save up for a whole new build next year and I think 2gb of vram will be fine from now til then since I plan on staying with a 1920x1080 resolution.

Hey guys, sorry for the nooby question.
I'm now running a sing 680, 2gb and the i7-3820
I'm getting about mid 50s fops with dips as low as in the high 20s at times (ultra, 2x aa). Game overall is playable, but I expected better performance
Can I expect much improvement in the final release with more mature drivers, or is this gonna be pretty much it for me?
My understanding is the 780 is a marginal improvement on the 680.
Should I be patient and wait until release and see, or grab a 780/Titan?
Or the r9-290x (I think it's called)?
Are my fps at the moment reasonable, or underachieving?
Thanks!

Well I know I said in this thread that the 780 was overpriced but I ended up getting a great deal for on two evga acx 780's in sli.....if I was you I would wait until amd releases the r9 290x just to see really how mush performance it has over the 780. Also, if the 290x does perform better than the 780 well prices of the 780 will drop...if your like me you want great fps in bf4 and a single 680 may cut on 1080p but at 1600p unless you change some settings won't.
