This is very true for these as I experienced it first hand even with their branded fluids. Whoever did the QC on this finish was sleeping on the job or was blind because this is a wide spread issue not just an isolated one.

It's simple do not plate the inside restrict the crappy plating to the outside.

Since the issue exist... if Koolance didn't change their process already, it's safe to say they won't at this point. Just don't get the black junk and use the silver one if you want them. I have to say, the design is quite good. I'll continue to use them (the silver one) knowing there is no warranty whatsoever until EK make some. Not liking the BP design really (and can't find them over here anyway).

The ONLY solution in this case to prevent this kind of thing happening to you is to,, regardless of what manufacturer you choose to get your fittings from - make sure you do NOT get the black nickel plated finish on your QDC's. The regular chrome plated ones work fine, but the black nickel plated ones - regardless of manufacturer, will exhibit this kind of flaking. Reason that we seem to see more of this kind of stuff happening with koolance fittings isn't because their design by nature is worse than any other companies (I personally think it's the best QDC design hands down to date in this industry) but because Koolance has without a doubt the most QDC's sold on the market, and more people have more of these fittings than other companies fittings which invariably means you'll hear more stories like this coming from Koolance QDC owners - but regardless of the manufacturer of the QDC fitting, the fact of the matter is black nickel plating is by nature, susceptible to flaking in any high wear application - such as the one in which you'll frequently find fittings like these QDC's.
Koolance is a very bad company, because they still sell their Black QDC that will fail with 100% of certainty and they know this. I dont see a warning or disclaimer on the product that says that it will fail and fill your loop with junk no matter what you do in just a few weeks.
If this koolance black QDC dog poo were sold directly on my country they will be forced to return the money and stop selling them, because you can not sell something that will faill 100% in just a few weeks and they are supposed to last months or years without problems. they are not sold as one use only (two week period), like a box of matches.

Just dont use the black quick disconnects. You can use the regular nickel plated / chromed fittings just fine those dont corrode like the black ones do.

Just thought I'd mention, Koolance redid the part #s for their QD3s. I don't know if there was a change in how finish is applied.

What's annoying is they got rid of their G1/4 female threaded part, so now if you want a G1/4 female thread on one of the ends, you have to get the panel part. I don't get it, most folks have these on their blocks, and you often need an angle adapter, so you'd think a female threaded end would be what folks want (along with a male G1/4 on the other half).
