Black Koolance quick disconnect owners - Page 22

You just have to be careful not to scratch the paint off the outside and somehow get it in. The new paint is more durable than the plating they did before, but it is still not foolproof. Overall a much needed improvement achieved.

Can't wait for your review on these new black QDC and the new Alphacool quick disconnect to see how they compare to the Koolance ones. Looks promising after 500 hours and 500 times connect/disconnect!

I'll give you a small version of my impressions of the Alphacool Eizapfen QDCs here since you brought them up. They licensed the same patent design as Koolance so the internals are very similar, but not identical. The flow restriction is slightly higher on the Alphacool ones due to the smaller valve/plunger openings but again within error margins. They are less expensive but have no options when it comes to ports (only female threaded G1/4" for now) and their black fittings are a hit or miss- I have 2 sets here and one has some black paint on the top rims and slightly inside also which are more prone to be scratched off as you install a fitting in.

Thank you very much for the reply,

My vote goes to the new black Koolance QDC since im using black Koolance compression fittings. After 500 times connect disconnect with the Koolance and your findings are positive thats a big plus however its a shame Koolance did not acknowledge the problems with the old black QDC as well as at least help out those who bought them maybe a discount...Needles to say im going to wait till your review is up before i buy 2 pairs of them.

As a side note with the Alphacool indeed i noticed they have no "build" in compression fittings like the Koolance does this means buying two additional fittings which adds up costs almost on par with the Koolance ones so another reason to go for Koolance also they are a bit more high flow as well.

I have a full review up on my website, but I can't link it myself due to the forum rules. It's been fine for over 12 weeks now.

That's it!

Due to this redesign proving to have solved the corrosion issue. Do we know if any other sizes and connection types have been redesigned and released yet? Namely I'mn looking at the Male Compression 13 x 16mm (1/2 x 5/8in) fitting (QD3-MS13X16-BK) and the QD3 Female Quick Disconnect No-Spill Coupling, Male Threaded G 1/4 BSPP - Black (QD3-FSG4-BK). On Performance-PCs it appears the male fitting in the product picture has silver lettering BUT has a different finish on the center valve like in the review posts. The threaded female fitting is unclear. The product page on PPCs still has the bad reviews but seeing as Koolance hasn't changed the model numbers and otherwise silently released the redesign I dont know if PPCs would bother to change the page as a new product or even knows that Koolance did anything.

I would say email PPCs and see if they can check for you before shipping it out. It would save them the trouble of a potential RMA return in the future, but that also means sitting on old stock which no reseller really wants to do.
