sfc /scannow stuck at 100% verification.

So I got a message frm the Windows Action Center (Windows 8 64-bit) and it said I had a corrupt file. I uploaded the report to microsoft (the file it uploaded was about 13 MBs). After that I ran sfc /scannow, after maybe 15 minutes it got to 100% verification and nothing happened. Its been like that for a long time now and I don't know what's going on or how to fix it.

What's going on? Its still stuck at 100%, Windows is not frozen for me, but for some reason it won't advance past 100%.

If it still stays like this for another hour or so, is it safe to just close the command prompt and reboot?

Okay, it just finished and I just rebooted. Not sure if it fixed anything. After a while it finally said that it found some files that it could not repair.

Apparently a solution was to run this command and do sfc /scannow after it.

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

The problem is that I've done it, but its taking long, so how long should it take? Its at 20% right now.

Next time look at the process in task manager or look at the disk/cpu usage in Resource Monitor.

Sometimes applications seem like they are doing nothing but quick peak will tell you different smile.gif

I just google searched around, apparently Microsoft screwed up and their newest update causes corruption of certain files.

The solution is to run dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth and let the command finish. After its finished you're supposed to run sfc /scannow. Right nw its doing that, I'm hoping this works because sfc /scannow is slightly faster right now. I will report back.

Here is the link I used to find out about the issue.

EDIT: Okay, sfc /scannow just finished, no integrity violations. Should be fine, for now.
