-740, 750k, 760k, or fx-6300
-gtx 560 (found it on sale for $100, which is a bargain)
-4 or 8 GB ddr3, probably 1.6 GHz
-Corsair cx430, or whatever else is cheap and works for my purposes.

I am most interested in the 750k and 760k, but I cannot get the 750k for the cheapest $80+free shipping currently offered by Amazon (only ships in the US; cheapest I found that I could get is $85+$7 shipping) ... Alternatively, I could go with the fx 6300 (which may be edging on the overkill side, despite the great value) or I could wait until the Steamroller APUs come along, and perhaps save a little more money by going the APU route...

I live in Israel and AMD's CPU's are overpriced here. So I ordered the 760K from ALIEXPRESS for 95$. Arrived in three weeks time. I will install the new rig tomorrow, hopefully.

I'm not sure the FX-6300 is an overkill. There are some games that does take advantage of the extra cores and L3 Cache memory. How much does it cost at your country?

Anyway, if you do have the possibility to wait for Steamroller, maybe it's the best option.

Welcome to the forum IdoG.

With which Motherboard and RAM will you be pairing the 760K? Would be awesome if you could do some benchmarks and tell us how it runs. Good luck with building your rig!

Impatiently awaiting build log, validations and any benchmarks! I would love to see if these benefited as much as their APU brothers in the small update!

MB: GA-F2A85XM-D3H
RAM: Just a generic 8GB 1333 module I got from EBAY few months ago.
Case: Antex GX700

I plan on using my current cooling - Xigmatek HDT-S983.

I will keep my Seasonic SS-500ET, the hard disk drive and the SSD drive, the X-Fi xtrememusic and my Radeon HD 4850 for now, as my budget is limited. I hope to upgrade the 4850 in the coming months.

Is there a specific benchmark that interests you?

Heaven, 3dMark, random games, like starcraft 2, arma 2, etc. I don't care for the ones that stress GPU, more CPU intensive games.

Good luck with the build, and once you get it going at a comfy OC, post up a CPU-Z validation so I can add you to the list!

Cinebench would be nice. And I'm also interested in ingame FPS and load, heres a nice and short howto article on OCnet that explain how you can show important parameter ingame with MSI Afterburner. http://www.overclock.net/t/1229915/how-to-cpu-and-gpu-usage-along-with-fps-in-game

Will you be overclocking the CPU? I see the VRM are not heatsinked on your Motherboard so I would be careful with higher voltage if you intend to OC.
How do you recommend to benchmark SC2?

I plan on trying to overclock the CPU, but later on. Not sure I'll have the time for this now.

This is the motherboard:

As I understand and see, there is a heatsink on the VRM. Am I getting it wrong?

The best way is by using NepToons link. It is really quite simple to follow and can be tailored to what you want to show and display.
